Cruise Liner World Odyssey docked at the Kenyan port on its maiden voyage to the country.
The vessel is among six ships known as Semester at Sea operates the World’s floating campus where students take their studies aboard a ship.
MV World Odyssey had 800 passengers of which 500 are students drawn from various parts of the world.
The students will be learning about Kenya’s history as part of their semester studies.
The ship will dock at Mombasa Port for five days and apart from learning, the students will visit tourist sites like Fort Jesus, Haller Park and Tsavo National Park.
MV World Odyssey built in a way such that it resembles a normal college together will all the needed infrastructure and amenities.
“The ship has a similar feel to a college or university with the architecture and design, and meets all SAS requirements including safety, program features, and efficiencies,” a statement from the campus statement reads.
Just like a normal college, the ship has reception and administrative offices.
“Our reception desk area is welcoming with around-the-clock crew presence as well as the Semester at Sea field program and administrative staff,” the campus states.
The students have 9 available classrooms which are fitted with state-of-the-art technology to offer a conducive learning environment.
